Code modularity is particularly important for OSS development since it facilitates coding activities among geographically distributed programmers. As a matter of fact, many of the OSS software such as Sendmail, Samba, Mozilla, and even Linux have been rewritten in a modular architecture to ensure successful development (Baldwin and Clark 2006; Fitzgerald 2004).
