Content can be delivered to the employee in a variety of ways: bots, search, push, browsing, and portal. This is referred to as knowledge flow. Bots, short for robots, are automated agents that seek out information of interest and send it back to the end user by that end user’s request. Push technology, or server-push as it is sometimes known, is delivery of information that is initiated by the information server rather than by the end user. The information is “pushed” from a server to an end user as a result of a programmed request initiated originally by the end user. A portal is a website that serves as a single gateway to information and knowledge. Each of these methodologies requires that the content be managed in some way. In the world of business, this is referred to as Enterprise Information Management, or EIM.

The monitoring module of RCVS is able to monitor the data server and the experimental devices. As mentioned earlier, RCVS monitors the status of the data server through the heartbeat mechanism, which is implemented using the WebSocket protocol. WebSocket is one kind of server push technology. Unlike HTTP, it allows two-way data transmission; that is, the server can actively push data to the client, and the client can also actively send data to the server. Therefore, it is suitable for the monitoring mode based on the heartbeat mechanism.
