A novel modified KASUMI block chiper for global system for mobile communications

KASUMI is the modified version of block cipher algorithm MISTY1. It is Fiestel network of 8-rounds which accept the input of 64-bit and produce the output of 64-bit by using 128-bit key for each round. FI, FO and FL are the different functions used by KASUMI. All these functions are completely different and they use different key values for performing their own operations. KI, KO and KL are the keys used for FI, FO and FL function, respectively, for all the 8 rounds. Figure 1 provides Fiestel structure of 8-round KASUMI algorithm [11–16]. In odd number of rounds, FL function will be performed first followed by FO function. But FO function will be performed first followed by FL function in even number of rounds. Brief description of three functions of algorithm is given below along with key-value operations.
