Introduction: a guide to GIDS
Published in John A. Michon, Generic Intelligent Driver Support, 1993
John A. Michion, Alison Smiley
Co-driver systems or driver support systems - the latter being the term to be used throughout this book - derive their usefulness to a large extent from the fact that vehicle operators must cope with a growing amount of information of an increasingly complex nature. This is caused by several factors, including increasing traffic density, an increasing number of on-board and roadside sources of information and, last but not least, by the increasing amount of additional in-vehicle equipment, such as telephones and fax machines. A driver support system, such as GIDS, will help to counter the information pollution that is threatening the vehicle operator, by filtering, interpreting, integrating, prioritizing, and presenting the information from any number of sensors and applications.

Food has several definitions with regard to different disciplines and/or technological, scientific, and humanistic areas. Food can be briefly defined as an edible, potable substance which can be eaten or absorbed by humans, animals, and plants to keep themselves alive. Another definition is that, food is a material which consists of carbohydrates, proteins, fats, and other macromolecules and vitamins and minerals and other micronutrients that living organisms use for growing, energy, and sustaining life. Why is food really important and one of the priorities for human life? There are numerous answers according to the perspective of authorities to this question. We can start with a scientific perspective with strong search and observation results via selective background knowledge. We basically need food to sustain life. On the other hand another really important question coming to mind, how can people live more convenient, peaceful, and healthier? Can we increase our life span or our quality of life? According to technological development, most of the people can access to any information faster via using internet, there is an information pollution directly related with changes on learning systems from restricted information or sentences from nontrustworthy sources or lack of understanding the knowledge. That is why scientists and specialists in food and food-related technologies, with their professional background, should be focused to inhibit or solve this problem of information pollution. After referring to these dilemmas, we can focus on food. Firstly, we need food to survive and for vital activity. Secondly, we also need food to be healthier and as a supplement for sustaining life.
Constructing a Demand-Driven College English Learning Environment in Higher Education Institutions
Published in Applied Artificial Intelligence, 2023
The learning community formed by different learners according to certain needs is an organic group, and various supportive conditions. All learners interact with various supportive conditions and form an ecosystem with specific functions (AlGhamdi 2018). therefore. The virtual learning environment can realize its ecological representation. EVLE refers to a learner-centered environment that can reflect the basic laws and principles of ecology, possess the ability of self-regulation, self-improvement, and self-development. The integration of various factors that directly or indirectly affect a learner’s learning. Like the human ecological environment, the “lack of resources” will cause the “desertification” of the virtual learning environment. “Information pollution” will cause an “ecological crisis” (Xu and Shi 2018). The establishment of an effective control mechanism can make the organization more reasonable, the function is more optimized (Toto and Limone 2021).
