This Section briefly focused on MPC in relation to the complexity of Ethernet flow control (EFC) in legacy networks. In traditional DCNs, EFC involve mechanisms used to temporarily stop the transmission of data on Ethernet DCNs using flow control mechanism, as well as the pause frame as outlined by IEEE 802.3x standard [11]. Recently, the use of predictive control in DCNs is gradually gaining popularity [1], hence applied in SHN environment for dynamic QoS provisioning. Such linear model predictive control (LMPC) [13], is defined as the family of MPC strategies in which linear models are used to predict the system dynamics subject to only linear constraints.
