Apache is truly a cloud-based and cloud-owned tool. Today, the Apache HTTP Server Project continues to be a collaborative software development effort boasting a commercial-grade, full-featured, freely available (with source code) implementation of an HTTP (web) server. The project is jointly managed by a group of volunteers located around the world, using the Internet and the web to communicate, plan, and develop the server and its related documentation.

Over the last decade, Open-source software (OSS) has created significant interest in the business world due to low costs and open standards [1,2], even though the adoption of new technology is a challenging process [3]. The advantages of using OSS led governments worldwide to adopt it in their public infrastructures [4]. Currently, OSS researchers focus on OSS implementation in the private and government sector that will facilitate the incorporation of security models, automation, and growth in innovation ecosystems [5,6]. It has been observed that the share of Closed Source Software (CSS) in the software application domain has gradually been decreased with time as many organizations start to rely on open technologies1 [7]. Firms are increasingly utilizing services-based business models based on open-source software (OSS) to compete with established, proprietary software firms in enterprise software industries [8]. OSS products are offered in commonly used applications; for example, OSS software has become the de-facto standard for developing new products and services on it, like that of the Linux-based Operating System or Apache HTTP Server [9].

These indicators and their values are thoroughly explained in the manuals of the German Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (Länderausschuss für Arbeitsschutz und Sicherheitstechnik (LASI), 2001, 2002). In the case that multiple work activities are combined, the average risk value is calculated. All the basic indicators along with the time indicator should be estimated in every assessment for every work activity. There are four different scales according to the final risk value, as summarized in Table 1 (Koklonis et al., 2019; Schmitter et al., 2010; Steinberg, 2012). An electronic application of the KIM was implemented that incorporates HTML, CSS, PHP, JavaScript, Apache HTTP Server as web server, and MySQL Server as the database management system. This application has been presented in detail in a previous study (Koklonis et al., 2019).

To simulate multiple clients accessing the system, we used the Apache HTTP server benchmarking,11 which is also available in common Linux distributions. The clients are located in the main machine of Kubernetes. We variate the number of clients from 4 up to 64, doubling the number of clients on each step. For each experiment, in spite of the number of clients, the system was exposed to 8000 requests. This mean that in a n-clients configuration, each client sent 8000/n requests to the system. For example, when the system operated with 4 clients, it means that each client sent 2000 requests.
