Compounds that favour the hydration process were identified through the FEAF analysis, such as larnite-belite, which corresponds to the β-C2S form and presents high reactivity and hydration potential (Kacimi et al. 2009). However, this compound leads to slower strength enhancement, when compared to alite (C3S) (Londono-Zuluaga et al. 2017). Wollastonite (Ca3SiO5) and mayenite (Ca12Al14O33) were also identified. Wollastonite presents suitable hydraulic properties and can provide strength gains (Khan and Ashraf 2019). Mayenite is commonly identified in calcium-aluminate cements (Bensted 2002) and is considered the most reactive phase among all the calcium aluminates (Pollmann 2002).
