Lubrication of Distribution Electrical Equipment
Published in Bella H. Chudnovsky, Transmission, Distribution, and Renewable Energy Generation Power Equipment, 2017
Detail analysis of the residue on corroded connector showed that the main cause of the corrosion of the electrical connectors in the hospital bed medical device was due to the contamination by the lubricant that the hospital was applying to the device to reduce friction. It was also determined that the cleaner/disinfectant used at the hospital added to the corrosive environment that surrounded the connectors and that they were exposed to. The cleaner/disinfectant contained ammonium compounds, which are corrosive to copper, a key component of the electrical connectors. The use of silicone grease as a lubricant and nonammonium containing cleaners/disinfectants was recommended, both of which are compatible with steel and copper.

In this test, a hole is drilled in a permeable concrete brick on the sidewalk surface, and a CFHW is inserted into the hole. Thermal conductive silicone grease is used to reduce the loss of the heat generated by the CFHW from the hole in the brick. The hole in the brick is closed, as shown in Figure 12. Thermal conductive silicone grease is a kind of insulating silicone material, high and low temperature resistance, insoluble in water, aging resistance and can maintain a dense silicone state at −50°C ∼ 250°C. It is not corrosive to concrete and does not affect the mechanical properties of permeable concrete bricks. The specific test procedures are: After the test piece was made, set the ambient temperature of the constant temperature room to −2°C, turn off the refrigerator after 2 h. Then, turn on the electric fan, and make the wind speed measured by the anemometer placed in the center of the test piece surface 2 m/s;Then, put a 25 mm thick layer of crushed ice on the surface of the specimen and record the average temperature of the surface of the pavement specimen 6 h after the crushed ice was laid.
