The emergence of telehealth in orthotic services across the United Kingdom

Avoiding unnecessary in-person patient evaluations became essential (Hollander and carr, 2020; Smith et al., 2020; Uscher-Pines et al., 2016). As with all National Health Service (NHS) out-patient services, orthotic services were tasked with adapting to the restrictions imposed by the pandemic and asked to adopt new ways of delivering clinical care. Orthotists are registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and are responsible for providing external engineering solutions for patients with neurological, muscular and skeletal pathologies, working in a variety of settings including hospitals and rehabilitation centers.
