More recently, two additional studies have provided further evidence for the utilization of the CardioMEMS HF system in patients with HF. The GUIDE-HF study was a multi-center, randomized study which compared HF management guided by PA pressure obtained remotely via CardioMEMS to standard-of-care HF management using guideline directed medical therapy (GDMT) [15]. This study enrolled NYHA II-IV HF patients regardless of left ventricular ejection fraction who had a heart failure hospitalization within the 12 months prior to study consent or elevated natriuretic peptide (BNP or NT-proBNP) levels within 30 days prior to study consent. One thousand patients were randomly assigned to treatment (n = 497) or control (n = 503) groups. Patients likely to receive a heart transplant in the next 12 months or those who had required inotropic support in the previous 6 months were excluded.
