Eczema is a common chronic inflammatory skin disease with a prevalence up to 10% in adults and 20% in children.1,2 Most cases of eczema begin in childhood or adolescence; and the symptoms can persist into adulthood.3 Incidence of eczema tends to be higher in developed countries versus developing countries;4–6 and the prevalence of eczema has increased over the last few decades worldwide.7
