Medical Clinic, Emergency, or Hospital Reports: Drkulec and Letts (2001) found the most common injury mechanism was a fall onto an outstretch hand due to loss of balance (57%), and 88% of these falls resulted in distal radius fracture. This was followed by uncontrolled falls (36%) and collision with another person (4%).
