Entailment is the directional relationship between a given pair of sentences, such that if the first sentence referred to as text is true, then the second sentence referred to as hypothesis must also be true. Hence, recognizing textual entailment (RTE) is the task to classify the directional relationship between text and hypothesis into three different categories, namely entailment, contradiction, and neutral. RTE is used in applications like machine translation evaluation, relation extraction, automatic short answer grading, and text summarization. Over the years, researchers have tried to solve the problem of RTE in several ways, but major success has been obtained by the application of deep learning. Hence, in this case, a survey of DL-based models used in the field of RTE is done.
