How Society Publishing Partnerships Work

Partnering with Taylor & Francis follows a clear, step-by-step pathway designed for continuity and growth. We begin with a tailored proposal and due‑diligence review, then move through contracting, onboarding, and a carefully managed journal transition. Your society retains ownership and editorial independence while we support editorial systems and production, enhance discoverability and marketing, ensure open access and funder compliance, and provide transparent performance reporting on agreed timelines.

Submit Partnership Inquiry

First, review how our expertise fits with your journal or book series. Then complete our partnership form to start the discussion.

This will be passed to our relevant subject lead. They will talk to you to understand your specific needs, how our services can help you achieve your objectives, and your timeline.

Request for Proposal

After speaking to our subject lead, you may wish to present a Request for Proposal. This should include a summary of your journal’s or book series’ current performance.

We will then create a proposal that details how we can publish your title(s) to your requirements.

Consideration and clarification

When considering our proposal, you may have further questions for us. We would be happy to answer these in the form of a presentation and follow-up discussion, either in person or on a video call.

Decision and contract stage

If you decide to partner with Taylor & Francis, it’s at this stage that we will work with you on the contractual details. We will then move forward to contract signature.

Transfer of publishing arrangement

We endorse the Transfer Code of Practice and follow these principles to ensure a smooth transfer to Taylor & Francis.

We will manage all communications with the outgoing publisher and 3rd parties. You may want to make your own announcements to your members, which we can discuss and plan for.

Onboarding

We will hold a kick-off meeting with your team, editors and staff to agree a targeted development plan. You will then meet with the key functional teams at Taylor & Francis. Your editors and staff will receive training on our systems, reinforced by our series of onboarding support emails.

Editors and key society contacts will receive our Publishing Partnership Program emails. These give journal performance updates, as well as events and industry news.
