A laparoscopic nephropexy was then carried out using a transperitoneal approach, whereby the right kidney was attached to the quadratus lumborum just below the liver using a 3-point fixation to avoid torsion. A 6-month post-operative MAG3 renogram carried out in the erect position showed that the right kidney continued to handle the isotope normally, with a relative split function of 51% (Figure 1C). Crucially, her symptoms had completely resolved.
