Despite academic consensus on low dosage, review of the formulations actually available, generic or branded, shows that obsolete production, marketing, and practice continue almost unchanged. The smallest available tablets are 2.5 mg for bendrofluazide and 50 mg for chlorthalidone, twice the fully effective dosage for blood pressure control. Cyclopenthiazide (Navidrex) is still available only as 500 μg, 3 years after published research showed that this was four times the optimal dose.
