An Odon device is a low-cost tool invented by Jorge Odon, a car mechanic from Argentina, that is designed to assist vaginal delivery during the second stage. The BD Odon Device™ can potentially avoid complications of classic vacuum extraction or forceps assisted deliveries and reduce the need for more caesarean sections, ultimately reducing foetal and maternal morbidity and mortality, especially in low-resources settings and maternity wards with high rates of C-sections during the second stage of labour.From: Obstetric Emergencies [2021], The BD Odon Device™: an update of its current state [2021]

The creation of the BD Odon Device™ was based on the idea of creating an affordable device to be used during the second stage of labour, safe both to the mother and foetus, with no need for an external energy source, able to be operated by a single person, effective and widely available. (Hessburg et al. 2012; Merialdi et al. 2017).
