A filter capacitor is a type of capacitor that is used in power supplies to reduce the pulsations of the output voltage and restrict the output voltage ripple across the load. The filter capacitor C of Figure 10, is designed to restrict the output voltage ripple across the load. For an acceptable voltage ripple , C value is sized using Equation (5) as studied in (Camara, Dakyo, and Gualous 2012).
