The basic capacitated VRP is modeled on a symmetric graph (i.e., the distance between any two vertices in the network is the same in both directions), all vehicles have the same capacity, and there is no maximum duration restriction on the length of a route.

The number of vertices adjacent to a given vertex in a symmetric graph is the degree of that vertex. The normalized degree centrality is the degree divided by the maximum possible degree expressed as a percentage (Freeman, 1979).
