The number of vertices adjacent to a given vertex in a symmetric graph is the degree of that vertex. The normalized degree centrality is the degree divided by the maximum possible degree expressed as a percentage (Freeman, 1979). In this case, the centrality degree amounts to the proportion of authors citing this principle, with a range between 0 and 1. Out of the 71 unified principles, 50 are shared by at least 2 authors.
