Doxastic logic: a new approach
Published in Journal of Applied Non-Classical Logics, 2018
Daniel Rönnedal
Epistemic and doxastic logic has often been developed as a kind of modal logic (Fagin, Halpern, Moses, & Vardi, 1995; Hintikka, 1962; Meyer & van der Hoek, 1995). There are, however, several well-known problems with various standard epistemic and doxastic systems, for instance, the so-called problem of logical omniscience. It is, therefore, plausible to explore some alternatives to this approach. The systems in this paper avoid many of the problems with the standard systems without totally abandoning the basic modal paradigm.1
