A BGLRT detector requiring no training data was proposed in (Sun et al., 2018), where the clutter covariance, textures of the clutters and target amplitudes were all treated as unknown parameters. The SIRV clutter model was adopted, while the clutter covariance was modeled as random matrices following the inverse Wishart distribution with an unknown ACCM, which is a structured matrix with the Hadamard product form consisting of two parts: the CMT and the clutter Doppler spectrum component. The BGLRT detector proposed in (Sun et al., 2018) is detailed below.

The cost is calculated by the objective function through Hadamard product between the cost matrix and the adjacent matrix. The Hadamard product is new matrix that its dimension is still 7 × 7. These non-zero elements are the cost of connections which exist in the designed layout. The sum of these non-zero elements is the total cost of the layout.

If all the column vectors of matrix A are slanted vertically, it will lead to vec A. The simplified rules for vector operation are listed in Fig. 4 (Magnus and Neudecker, 1988). In multiway data analysis, a normal vector multiplication operator may not be enough. In this sense, other matrix operations like Kronecker product, Hadamard product and Khatri–Rao product have been familiarized in the multiway analysis. Tucker models can be written by Kronecker product, whereas Khatri–Rao product is suitable for the PARAFAC model and Hadamard product is applicable for weighted regression (Smilde et al., 2004).
