Briker server VoIP capability measurement over virtual local area network
Published in Aria Hendrawan, Rifi Wijayanti Dual Arifin, Engineering, Information and Agricultural Technology in the Global Digital Revolution, 2020
Traditional telephone communication technology still uses a simple circuit that functions to connect speaker and microphone. This technology was later developed into a telephone device that uses Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) technology. This technology allows IP phone devices to communicate through a computer network so that the device will have an IP address. The VoIP technology can be utilized through various types of servers such as Trixbox, Elastix, Asterisknow, and Briker.

Internet Protocol (IP) phones offer the ability to be reached virtually through the Internet. Some may require network access through VPNs, but they allow a greater range of flexibility to users who need to be reached easily while changing locations frequently. Some IP phones also allow users to check e-mail quickly and integrate voice mails into e-mails (or vice versa).

Through decoding the analogue signal, the original voice is restored according to the order of the message. To do so, IP telephones, often with built-in calibration protocols such as SIP or H.323, connect to the IP PBX of the business or service provider. An IP phone can be a regular phone (instead of connecting to a telephone network via an RJ11 communication line, an IP phone connects directly to the LAN via an Ethernet cable, RJ45 communication) or voice software (softphone) installed on a computer.
