The PC
Published in Mike Tooley, PC Based Instrumentation and Control, 2013
Modern PCs use chipsets supplied by a number of different manufacturers. The chipsets provide an interface between the processor, memory and graphics controllers (which must all operate at this highest possible speed), and the various expansion buses (PCI, ISA, etc.). One of the functions of the chipset is to act as a bridge between the various bus systems, managing the data flow and ensuring the efficient transfer of data Table 1.12. Figure 1.15 shows the typical architecture of a system that supports both PCI and ISA expansion bus systems. The front side bus (FSB) allows data to be transferred at high speed between the processor, memory controller, and graphics controller whilst the back side bus (BSB) allows the processor to be fed with an instruction stream from the level 2 cache memory (see page 39).
Ecological technology of green building in the initial stage of design based on BIM technology
Published in Journal of Experimental Nanoscience, 2023
With Revit, architects can easily finalize the design scheme, express the design intention quickly, create a three-dimensional BIM model, and get the required architectural design drawings based on the BIM model, and complete the architectural design from concept to scheme, and finally complete the whole architectural design process. The required tools are as follows: Revit 2016 software and family library master, who mainly conducts parametric modeling for international new city projects and outputs construction drawings; Navisworks mainly carries out collision inspection, roaming animation, schedule management, construction simulation, etc. for the daily standard items; Tea BIM5D is mainly used for engineering quantity statistics, cost budget, etc. Autodesk Ecotect analyzes the data of daylighting, sunshine and energy saving; Other hardware and software configurations: 2 E5-2620v4(8c, 2.1 GHz) processors, motherboard C612 chipset, 23-inch LED widescreen X2 (dual display) display, 32 G DDR4 2400 MHz ECCRDIMM memory, 1TB SATA7200 SSD 256 G hard disk, integrated Internet Gigabit Ethernet card, NVIDIA QUADRO M2000 4 G graphics card, etc.
Applying interactive technology to design an innovative interactive sound installation for sustainment of the Din-Tao culture
Published in Journal of the Chinese Institute of Engineers, 2022
The hardware components used in the proposed installation are shown in Table 5. Specifically, during drum beating, a sound pickup sensor attached underneath the drum is used to monitor the vibration of the drumhead, and the sensed signals are sent to the server computer for triggering graffiti-image generation. Beating any part of the drum can activate the triggering, reducing the chance of beating misses and satisfying the user<apos;>s sense of full control of the graffiti creation process. Also, the timing of hitting the big gong is sensed by a microphone module, and the sensed signal is processed by an Arduino chipset with the result sent to the server computer for processing to control the ending of the graffiti drawing. All the interactive operations for graffiti creation and ending are based solely on percussive actions. It is by this interface design that the details the participant has to memorize for learning the operation process can be reduced. In addition, the created graffiti images are sent via wifi to the client computer in the output display area for displays and printing.

A Micro-Controller Unit (MCU) is a small computer on a single chipset. For this research the MCUs from Arduino were selected because of their ubiquity. The popular Arduino Uno and Arduino Yun were used. The advantage of Arduino Yun over the Arduino Uno for the purposes of remote operation of machinery is a more compact package due to the integrated Wi-Fi module and Linux capability from its second processor. The MCU is used to bring together the sensor/actuator network of the physical model to work harmoniously and facilitate coordination with the digital media.
