XFOIL, developed by Drela (1989), is an interactive program for designing and analyzing subsonic isolated airfoils. It has undergone numerous revisions, upgrades, hacks and enhancements since the initial version and has become strongly geared to practical airfoil development. Its fully interactive interface makes XFOIL easier to use than the traditional batch-type CDF codes. With the airfoil coordinates and airflow condition as the input, XFOIL can calculate the lift coefficient, drag coefficient and other aerodynamic performance parameters. Figure 8 is the interface of the program in which the distribution of pressure coefficient of the suction side and the pressure side is illustrated. By using XFOIL, we can get the lift-drag ratio of the airfoil in this study.
