Pyomo It is an open-source software suitable for optimization problems [19]. Pyomo is based on the programming language Python and it was developed at the Sandia National Laboratories. As a result of being based on Python, it has access to a wide range of packages and parallel communication libraries.
Optimization models for operation of a steam power system in integrated iron and steel works

In this section, the proposed model is applied to address a practical industrial strategy in China. Figure 2 shows the steam system layouts of an integrated iron and steel works, in which the coal/gas-fired boilers, heat recovery boiler, cogeneration unit and extraction turbine are there to provide plants with steam and electricity. The main parameters of the equipment and the produced steam are given in Tables 1 and 2. The main energy input includes the waste heat recovery from CDQ technology, COG from coke-making plants, BFG from the iron-making process and power coal from purchasing. The LHV of the mixed fuel gas for coal/gas-fired boilers is different from each other. Electricity purchase price and sell price at different periods are shown in Table 3. The average amount of waste heat, gas supply and steam, electricity demand is 466.56 J, 415.09 km3/h, 13.48 km3/h, 65 t/h, 218 t/h, 238 t/h, 652.956 MWh, respectively. And the scheduling horizon of the optimal model is composed of a long period model which is 24 periods and a short period model which is three periods, moreover, each period is 1 h. In this study, the optimization is performed in the Python Optimization Modeling Objects (Pyomo) software.
