Exploitation toolkits, such as Metasploit Framework, come preinstalled with most of security testing operating systems (e.g., Kali Linux, Parrot Security, BackBox, etc.). Exploits against the most well-known and popular vulnerabilities have been unified in the Metasploit Framework to be easily launched via a simple interface, allowing even unskilled users to carry out basic cyberattacks against vulnerable systems.

Overstreet, Wimmer, and Haddad (2019) tested an Amazon Echo device against DOS attack, using Kali Linux tools to both execute attacks against the Amazon Echo device and monitor the network traffic. The authors proved that once an attacker that has gained access to the victim’s home network, can perform a DoS attack on the Amazon Echo device effortlessly.
