Both representation forms can be abstracted to (directed) graphs with different types of nodes and edges. A graphical editor to manipulate graph structures must have some advanced features compared to standard drawing programs because they must preserve the semantic relations between nodes and edges. The editors for plant and master recipes are based on a common foundation: a framework for graph editors called HUGE (hierarchical universal graph editor) [Fritz, Schultz, and Wöllhaf, 1995]. It provides the following features for any application derived from it. Creating, deleting, connecting, and moving of nodes and edges.Grouping of nodes and edges to superblocks (subgraphs), thus enabling the creation of hierarchical structures.Unrestricted undo and redo of user operations.A clipboard for cut, copy, and paste.Persistence mechanisms to store and retrieve models to/from disk.

To facilitate high level of decision-making for identification of markets for off-grid electrification, a worksheet-based tool was developed.1 It is designed to be a flexible tool that can be used in different contexts or geographical regions where some pre-defined factors may not be appropriate. One of the objectives of the tool is to allow users to put data as required in a given context. Moreover, users may need to revise their options and choices based on the initial results. Thus, allowing them to copy and paste data and results remains important. To enable a user friendly tool, three worksheets were defined: a sheet where the user can put his/her data, a sheet where calculations will be made and a Dashboard to launch calculations and see results (see Figure 2).
Towards More Direct Text Editing With Handwriting Interfaces

In the indirect-writing text editor, the user can select text by dragging on the text, as in conventional GUIs. Dragging and dropping the selected text moves the text to a destination. The user can “copy and paste” the text using the pop-up menu invoked by a long-press gesture either on the text selection or on the position to paste. Text selection is not implemented in the handwriting widget because it is not necessary.
