Chemical/Physical. Terbufos and its degradation products, terbufos sulfoxide and terbufos sulfone, followed first-order disappearance in natural, sterilized natural, and distilled water at 20°C. In natural and distilled water, the sulfoxide and sulfone had half-lives of 18–40 and 280–250 days, respectively. Terbufos disappeared more rapidly (half-life = 3 days) (Bowman and Sans, 1982). The hydrolysis half-lives of terbufos in a sterile 1% ethanol/water solution at 25°C and pH values of 4.5, 6.0, 7.0, and 8.0 were 0.29, 0.28, 0.28, and 0.32 weeks, respectively (Chapman and Cole, 1982).
