The most often utilized salt in the preparation of non-aqueous electrolytes for SIBs is sodium hexafluorophosphate (NaPF6). It was selected for its ionic conductivity and SEI formation, as well as the fact that it decomposes into F−, which renders the present aluminium collector inactive. Other salts that have been proposed are mostly sodium counterparts of salts that have been studied in the field of LIBs. sodium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide (NaTFSI), sodium perchlorate (NaClO4), sodium tetrafluoroborate (NaBF4), sodium trifluoromethanesulfonate (NaCF3SO3), sodium bis(fluorosulfonyl)imide (NaFSI), sodium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide (NaTFSI). Another class of solvents is glymes, which have the general formula CH3O(CH2CH2O)n-CH3. Non-dendritic sodium plating and stripping have been achieved using LEs containing NaPF6 and glymes (Seh et al. 2015).

Isonicotinic acid, 4,4ʹ-dihydroxybiphenyl, cyclohexane-1,4-diol, lithium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide (NTf2Li), dimethyl carbonate (DMC), ethylene carbonate (EC), sodium dodecylbenzenesulphonate (A-SO3Na), sodium tetrafluoroborate, sodium (+)-10-camphorsulphonate (D-SO3Na), 2,2-bis(hydroxymethyl)propane-1,3-diol, 1,4-dibromobutane, 1,10-dibromodecane were purchased from Aladdin and used without any further purification. Ethanol, chloroform, pyridine, N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF), tetrahydrofuran (THF), thionyl chloride were obtained from Shenyang Chemical Company. Pyridine was purified by NaH and KOH distillation before using.

Sulforaphane is synthesized via sonication of thiolane with methyl iodide followed by anionic metathesis with NaBF4 (sodium tetrafluoroborate) in butanol that produce thiolanium tetrafluoroborate. Conversion of thiolanium tetrafluoroborate to 1-azido-(4methylsulfinyl) butane at 60 °C in 16 h via ring opening by SN2 (indicated by TLC). Further, 1-azido-(4methylsulfinyl)butane after the Staudinger reaction converted to Erucin and the oxidation of Erucin in transition metal-free condition (H2O2/glacial acetic acid) to give sulforaphane in racemic form [40] (0.32 g sulforaphane, yield: 91%).

4,4ʹ-dihydroxydiphenyl, isonicotinic acid, potassium dihydrogen phosphate, sodium dodecylbenzenesulphonate (B-SO3Na), sodium (+)-10-camphorsulfonate (C-SO3Na), sodium tetrafluoroborate, phloroglucinol were obtained from ALDRICH without any further purication. 1,4-dibromobutane, 1,10-dibromodecane were purchased from ALADDIN Chemical Company and used without any further purification. Ethanol, pyridine, chloroform, tetrahydrofuran (THF), N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF), thionyl chloride were purchased from Shenyang Chemical Co. Pyridine was purified by distillation over KOH and NaH before using.
