Sesamol (5-hydroxy-1, 3-benzodioxole or 3,4-methylenedioxyphenol) is a phenolic component of sesame oil (Elleuch et al., 2007), formed by hydrolysis of sesamolin during thermal oxidation (Mohamed et al., 1998), and is a well-established antioxidant molecule (Chennuru et al., 2013; Hemalatha et al., 2013). The benzodioxole derivatives are known to possess anti-inflammatory, antitumor, antioxidant, and many other biological activities (Bhardwaj et al., 2017; Yashaswini et al., 2017).
