Fluids Separation
Published in Hussein K. Abdel-Aal, Economic Analysis of Oil and Gas Engineering Operations, 2021
In the separator, crude oil separates out, settles, and collects in the lower part of the vessel. The gas lighter than oil fills the upper part of the separator. Crude oil with high gas-oil ratio (GOR) must be admitted to two or three stages as indicated in Figure 16.3. Movement of crude oil from one separator to the next takes place under the driving force of the flowing pressure. Pumps are needed for the final trip to transfer the oil to its storage tank.

Essays were performed in an open combustion chamber, following several previously published designs (Hall et al. 2012; Neto et al. 2011), simulating the open burning in agricultural fields, without extra oxygen feed. Over the combustion chamber a hood was located connecting with a chimney duct (L = 3.6 m and Ø = 0.20 m), to displace vertically the particulate matter (PM2.5 and PM10) and combustion gases up to the sampling point (Figure 1). The ignition was performed with a butane gas lighter. After tens of tests to find optimal burning conditions and to avoid filter saturation, the residue masses were assessed according to the combustion period (alfalfa: 700 g, 5 min; barley: 700 g, 4 min, bean: 500 g, 4 min; cotton: 300 g, 6 min; maize: 700 g, 5 min; rice: 300 g, 4 min; sorghum: 300 g, 5 min; wheat: 500 g, 4 min). All assays of each vegetal variety were carried out at least in triplicate.

In this research, we report on structural studies of ion implanted ZnO. We compare structural damages of ZnO implanted with Co, Ar (a noble gas lighter than Co) and Kr (a noble gas heavier than Co) based on the channeled Rutherford backscattering spectrometry (cRBS) and model calculations.
