Comparing genome organization across cell types and species may reveal important details about the processes that underpin these genomic structures, such as their biochemical pathways (Potgieter et al., 2020). To identify the genes of interest, syntenic regions of related species considered to house a gene of known role were used at the genome structural stage. The mechanism between various species has proven to be such a powerful tool that databases have been created to capitalize on. C-InterSecture is a bioinformatics tool that was recently developed and used to identify regions that alter their spatial organization during vertebrate evolution.
