Broadcast Education Association & National Association of Broadcasters

Each year the BEA conference provides a fantastic opportunity to meet and collaborate with educators and professionals within the areas of broadcast media.  This year the conference will take place both online (19-20 April) and in-person (23-26 April) and offers the chance for academics and professionals to share their perspectives and insights on excellence in media production and career advancement for educators, students and professionals.

BEA’s annual convention traditionally produces over 250 sessions on media pedagogy, collaborative networking events, hands-on technology workshops, research and creative scholarship and the Festival of Media Arts.  It is co-located with NAB Show.

Taylor and Francis publish two journals in collaboration with BEA as well as a number of journals within the areas of broadcast media, journalism, film and media studies. Under the Routledge and Focal Press imprints we publish practical textbooks and books for professionals within the areas of broadcast media, journalism, film production, and media production, as well as monographs and research as part of the BEA monograph series, Electronic Media Research Series. Our journals include the two Broadcast Education Association journals – Journal of Broadcasting & Electronic Media and Journal of Radio & Audio Media as well as a broad range of other media and communication studies journals, which includes: Historical Journal of Film, Radio and Television, Media History, Mass Communication and Society, Critical Studies in Media Communication, and Visual Communication Quarterly. To submit your article, please go to the Taylor & Francis website (https://www.tandfonline.com/) and search for the journal you are interested in. For any questions or support regarding publishing an article, please go to our Author Services website: https://authorservices.taylorandfrancis.com/

Our books, a selection of which are featured below, are available to purchase at the NAB store during the conference.

Taylor & Francis are delighted to announce that Now Media (formerly, Electronic Media: Then, Now, Later) has won the 2022 BEA Textbook Award. This fourth edition provides a comprehensive view of the beginnings of electronic media in broadcasting and the subsequent advancements into ‘now’ digital media. Each chapter is organized chronologically, starting with the electronic media of the past, then moving to the media of today, and finally, exploring the possibilities for the media of the future. New to the fourth edition is a chapter on the amazing world of virtual reality technology, which has spawned a ‘now’ way of communicating with the world and becoming a part of video content, as well as a discussion of the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on media consumption habits. This book remains a key text and trusted resource for students and scholars of digital mass communication and communication history alike.”
