The American Association of Geographers Virtual Annual Meeting will feature more than 6,000 presentations, posters, workshops, and field trips by leading scholars, experts, and researchers. The 2022 virtual conference brings together geographers, GIS specialists, environmental scientists, and other leaders to share and discuss the latest in research and applications in geography, sustainability, and GIScience. With thousands of different papers and presentations scheduled throughout the conference, you’ll find no shortage of activities that reflect your specific interests within the field of geography.
Each year the AAG President, in consultation with the Executive Director, identifies themes for the annual meeting to help focus discussion and provide a fresh and engaging structure to the conference program. Due to the extraordinary circumstances during the pandemic, the AAG have retained four themes established in 2020 and 2021 with an additional new theme for 2022. The themes being explored at this year’s virtual meeting are ‘Climate Justice’, ‘Geographies of Access: Inclusion and Pathways’, ‘Ethnonationalism and Exclusion around the World’, ‘The Changing North American Continent’ and ‘Expanding the Community of Geography’.
