Interactions between concomitant drugs may cause alterations in the absorption, metabolism, distribution, or excretion, thus affecting the efficacy and safety of either or both drugs. The most prominent concern associated with such adverse drug interactions is the risk of myopathy and rhabdomyolysis usually seen with drugs that interfere with statin metabolism or hepatic uptake [31,117].
