Paracoccus yeei is an aerobic, non-motile, gram-negative Coccobacillus sometimes confused with Moraxella or Neisseria species due to oxidase positivity. It often appears vacuolated or peripherally stained (O shape) and is commonly found in soil, and natural and artificial brines. In 2003, Daneshvar et al. carried out an extensive analysis of an unclassified strain of bacteria from 13 human isolates (including an ocular source) and identified a novel bacterial species which was named P. yeeii (later changed to P. yeei).1
