The respondents of this study were selected using convenience sampling from various digital startups in Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi area. The primary data were collected through an online self-administrative questionnaire. There are 210 respondents: 66 respondents from e-commerce startups, 58 respondents from fintech startups, 54 respondents from game startups, 11 respondents from media startups, 7 respondents from travel and accommodation startups, 5 respondents from education startups, both agency and agricultural technology startups have 2 respondents each, and health technology, marketing technology, machine learning, and automotive startups have 1 respondent each. The analytical data analysis of this study used Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) through SmartPLS software.

Therefore, this chapter, through an empirical pilot study, investigates KM in small software companies from four different perspectives: technical contributions, informational contributors, people/personal contributors, and culture/organizational climate, in SME IT companies. For data analysis, the partial least square structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) is used and for results reporting the SmartPLS software.

This study used a questionnaire as the data collection tool. This study conducted a pilot test first to test the questionnaire to meet the validity and reliability test so that the questionnaire could be used in this study. Analysis of data processing in this study used statistical analysis using SmartPLS 3.2.8. All the questionnaires items are shown in Table 2.

Finally, we explored the trust change process using a structural model based on the regression results. The proposed model was tested utilising partial least squares (PLS) analysis by SmartPLS v. 3.3.7 software. All constructs’ average variance extracted (AVE) values were higher than the threshold of 0.50, suggesting that the constructs had adequate and satisfactory convergent validity (Gefen, Straub, and Boudreau 2000). The Cronbach’s alpha values of these constructs were higher than 0.70, establishing internal consistency (Gefen, Straub, and Boudreau 2000). The discriminant validity of the constructs was examined by cross-loadings of the indicators. The results showed that all loadings of each indicator on its construct were higher than the cross-loadings on other constructs (Gefen, Straub, and Boudreau 2000).

In this study we adopted partial least square based structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM) technique to analyze our data for three reasons. First, PLS-SEM is suitable for prediction oriented study and theory development compare to covariance based structural equation modelling (CB-SEM) that is appropriate theory testing and confirmation (Akter, Fosso Wamba, and Dewan 2017; Hair et al. 2019). As we are predicting the impact of different type of FI on supply chain agility and supply chain agility on firm performance, PLS-SEM is appropriate in this context. Second, PLS-SEM does not require to satisfy the normality assumption of variables. We tested the normality of all items using Z-scores of skewness and kurtosis (Hair et al. 2019). Our result presented in Table 1 show that majority items have Zskewness value more than 1.96 and some of the items have Zkurtosis value beyond the threshold of ±1.96. This is a clear violation of normality assumption. Third, as we used 36 items in the model, it requires a sample size of 36 × 10 = 360 (at least) to use CB-SEM. As our sample size is 238 (after removing the missing responses), PLS-SEM is appropriate because it can handle small sample size (Hair et al. 2017). In this study we used SmartPLS 3.3.9 to analyze the data.

The structural equation modeling (SEM) analysis has been performed using SmartPLS. The results revealed that participants’ gender and age significantly impacted their GBB. Therefore, both gender and age were controlled while assessing the hypothesized associations. Moreover, we performed confirmatory factor analysis to assess the psychometric properties of the study measures in SmartPLS 3.0 software. Besides, “Cronbach’s α (CA)” and “composite reliability (CR)” were calculated to assess the constructs’ reliability (Henseler et al., 2015; Mansoor & Wijaksana, 2021). In addition, Table 1 shows the values of CR and CA are above 0.70, reflecting that all the items of study constructs are reliable. Also, the convergent validity of the study constructs is established based on the AVE “Average variance Extracted” above 0.50, as shown in Table 1. Moreover, factor loadings of all the indicator constructs (>0.70) are given in Appendix.
