Conceptual field. Conceiving of concepts as the ideas with which human beings think about, inter-relate and organise facts, this field is understood here to be the suite of concepts and relationships that allude to mathematical content. The most prominent in this context are individual units and the networks they generate. Depending on their specificity and complexity, such concepts can be hierarchized into three levels.
Facts comprise the simplest units of information and include the following: terms, notations, conventions and results. As a rule, facts render the concept tangible.Concepts and relationships are associated with content, understanding concept to be a series of inter-connected facts.Mathematical structures are concept networks that may give rise to more complex concepts.
