DNS is a type of server that deals with the conversion of domain into IP address. It is also known as domain name resolution server. Why is DNS used in the Internet? The reason behind using DNS is very simple. The names of the websites on the Internet are identified by the domain names like: http://www.abcd.com, but the transmission of data to communicate with the website server is done through IP address. Then, how is it possible for the routers to understand the domain name? It is the responsibility of DNS server (Figure 1.26). The IP address is sent to designated DNS server that returns the IP address of the domain. The routing of the data packets is then done through IP addresses.

The Domain Name System (DNS) [RFC1034] [RFC1035] is a hierarchical and globally distributed naming system for mapping domain names (which are generally more readily memorized) to IP addresses. A domain name is a text-based label or string that identifies Internet resources, such as computers, services, and networks. A text-based labels for Internet resources are much easy to recognize and memorize than the numerical IPv4 and IPv6 addresses used for identifying such resources. For example, www.example.com which we assume translates or maps to the IPv4 address 192.0.2.3, is easier to memorize than 192.0.2.3.

The Domain Name System (DNS) is a hierarchical decentralized naming system for computers, services, or other resources connected to the Internet or a private network. It associates various information with domain names assigned to each of the participating entities. Most prominently, it translates more readily memorized domain names to the numerical IP addresses needed for locating and identifying computer services and devices with the underlying network protocols. By providing a worldwide, distributed directory service, DNS is an essential component of the functionality on the Internet that has been in use since 1985.

Figure 1 illustrates the generation of a 2D curvilinear mesh for an ABCD square region with a single ideally round pore. This approach is referred to as a method of mechanical analogy [30]. First, a rectilinear mesh with nodes and total of nodes is constructed (Figure 1a). The domain is then subdivided into subdomains. As shown in Figure 1, for the case considered, with EFGH being the central subdomain and the others being framed by line segments. In this example, we transform the square EFGH into a circle, assigning displacements at the subdomain boundary. The node coordinates of the line segments are set analytically and represent kinematic boundary conditions.
