This is the main repository for content, as essence and metadata. The metadata is usually stored in a third-party relational database. Popular products include Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server. A regular file server can be used for content that can be stored in a standard file system like NFS or NTFS. Such content may be documents and image files, or media files: AVI, streaming media, and QuickTime. Video is often stored on specialized video servers, but there are many developments that are allowing video—uncompressed, MPEG, or DV—to be stored on normal file systems.

Digital audio workstations maybe used off-line (i.e., in isolation), or they may be associated with a production studio or on-air studio. In all cases they will typically be connected to a computer network and hence be able to share files. A system that is used to provide central storage of files is called a file server. Any other authorized workstation on the network can simultaneously access any file stored on the server. The file server, therefore, provides the functions of both a library and a distribution system.

The aggregation switch in the aggregation layer forwards traffic from multiple ToR switches to the core layer. A core router in core layer is a router designed to operate in the Internet backbone and must support multiple communication interfaces of the fastest speed and must be able to forward IP packets at full speed on all of them. It monitors communication channels between internal networks and external networks to prevent risks on external networks from affecting internal networks. Load balancers receive data traffic and increase effective network bandwidth by distributing network connection requests to multiple servers using a distribution algorithm. A server is a computer program running to serve the requests of other programs, the “clients” such as sharing data, information or hardware and software resources (i.e. file server, mail server, print server, web server, application server, so on.)

In order to achieve quick updates of all the data, increase of performance is imperative. To gain the calculation performance, the number of computers to run Executor has been increased, and currently more than 100 processes are running simultaneously. However, processes access the same resources simultaneously, such as the database server and the file server. This causes a concentration on access. Therefore, it has become difficult to increase total performance just by increasing the number of computers. In order to increase total performance of the AutoAna, multiple server configurations as well as the improvement of the network infrastructure must be considered.
