Cuckoo Search (CS) Algorithm
Published in Erik Cuevas, Alma Rodríguez, ®, 2020
All algorithms have been tested in MATLAB® over the same Dell Optiplex GX520 computer with a Pentium-4 2.66GHz processor, running Windows XP operating system over 1 Gb of memory. Sections below present experimental results for multimodal optimization problems that have been divided into two groups. The first one considers functions f1−f7, while the second gathers functions f8−f14.

Participants arrived at the laboratory and were asked to remove any timepieces and to turn off all electronic devices (e.g. cell phones, smartwatches). At this time, participants were asked to sit approximately 51 cm from a computer screen (Dell Optiplex 745 desktop computer) in a uniformly lit, private cubicle. Next, participants were instructed to review the informed consent and ask any questions. Once participants consented, they were asked to complete the pre-task measures (e.g. pre-DSSQ, demographics, CFQ, and BP) followed by a brief practice session of the experimental task. The practice session allowed participants to familiarise themselves with the task and lasted approximately 2-min.

Similar to Patterson and Carter (2010), all data were collected with participants seated in front of a 16-in. Dell computer monitor connected to a desktop computer (Dell OptiPlex 790). A Chronos serial-response box (Model # PST-100,430) was placed on the table directly in front of the participant. The Chronos box consisted of five buttons (2.5 cm x 1.3 cm) sequentially labelled 1–5 from right to left. A customised software program (E-prime, version 2.0, Psychology Software Tools, Inc.; Pittsburgh, PA) was used to present experimental stimuli, control practice parameters and collect timing data.

Total of 50 images of ulcer, bleeding, and normal cases from CE videos [4] is extracted. The dimension of each image is 576 × 576 pixels. The proposed framework is tested with these 50 images on various performance metrics and other approaches. The experiment is conducted on the Dell Optiplex 9010 machine with an Intel Core i7 processor and 6 GB RAM using MATLAB R2017a.
