The main constituent in essential oil from roots is bornyl acetate (23%). However, a-terpinene is a major compound in the stem and leaves; and γ-terpinene is abundant in the flower. Quercetin is a primary phenolic compound in the roots, while vanillic acid is present in a higher amount in the flowers. However, p-coumaric, rosmarinic, trans-2-dihydrocinnamic acids, and resorcinol are found predominantly in stems and leaves. Antioxidant activity assessment of the cumin plant parts has been checked using four types of assays, such as: l,l-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH), (3-carotene/ linoleic acid, reducing power and chelating power assays. The cumin flowers acetone extract has strong antioxidant activity, lipid peroxidation inhibitor, and reducing agent, whereas acetone extract of stem and leaves exhibits the highest chelating power. Nevertheless, the essential oil offers moderate antioxidant activity as shown by antioxidant assay [20].

Results of the chemical analysis of the tested essential oils by GC-MS are shown in Tables S1, S2, and S3. In the essential oil of A. millefolium, γ-terpinene (43.64%), bornyl acetate (5.63%), borneol (5.09%), 1,8-cineole (4.35%), germacrene-D (2.58%), santolina triene (2.57%), and caryophyllene oxide (2.14%) were the main compounds (Table S1). Hexyl butanoate (35.28%), pentylcyclopropane (18.68%), hexyl 2-methylbutyrate (7.73%), and hexyl isobutanoate (4.96%) were identified as the main compounds in the H. persicum essential oil (Table S2). Pulegone (53.74%), menthone (18.41%), 1,8-cineole (13.83%), and terpineol (2.40%) from M. pulegium were detected as major constituents (Table S3).

For the oil of A. absinthium, a yield of 0.27% was obtained, which was in accordance with data obtained from the literature (Stefkov et al. 2011). The chemical components obtained from A. absinthium were oxygenated monoterpenes (45.09%) and oxygenated sesquiterpenes (39.21%). This essential oil had a low content of sesquiterpene hydrocarbons (2.52%). The major constituents were chamazulene (39.21%), camphor (21.12%), bornyl acetate (13.84%) and chrysanthenyl acetate (9.08%). Chamazulene (the main constituent for A. absinthium) was the only representative of the oxygenated sesquiterpenes group.

RZQG (Voucher No.20170802) was produced at Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine. Renzhu supercritical CO2 extraction (RZSE) was composed of essential oil extracted by supercritical CO2 extraction technology from FA, RA, CC, and FC in a ratio of 4:4:3:5. GC test showed that 1 g RZQG contained mixed fatty acid glyceride and 200 mg RZSE, and the content of the active constituents were 0.87% bornyl acetate, 0.63% atractylodin, 2.12% eugenol, and 1.48% cinnamaldehyde (Figure A.1, Table A.1, and Table A.2).
